HOLSET HE351VE ACTUATOR CONTROLLER. New for 2017
We've been making great progress on our first controller for the electronic actuator on the Holset HE351ve turbo typically found on US 6.7L Cummins engined diesel trucks (pickups).
This vgt turbo operates in a different manner to other turbos as you can see in the video - the vanes do not rotate but are moved en masse in and out of the turbine housing. As the vanes slide into the housing, the turbine speed increases, as does exhaust back pressure, to the extent that fully out on a closed throttle cause an exhaust braking effect.

The blue line is the signal from the turbo's rpm sensor and the red line is the trip output. Normally at 0volts, it switches to 5v when the preset rpm is exceeded. The trip is user adjustable over the range of approximately 100-130k rpm and once tripped remains at 5v until reset by the firmware.
A led is lit when an overspeed event occurs and remains on even after the firmware has reset the trip after a delay, so you can see that overspeeding has occurred and this has caused a boost reduction.

We expect to launch the Holset version in late February 2017 for around £230 to £349 with various options such as 4bar map sensor, turbo rpm input, heavy duty sealed housing.
